Have you been taking part in the Everyday Romantic Challenge with author Tammie Clark Gibbs? If so, today's the day to implement all you've been learning, as you surprise your sweetheart with a special Valentine's Day.But what about those of you who may not be able to participate in all of the romantic challenges? As my readers are aware, I have a heart condition, and like any chronic condition, or other disability, it limits my activities. But that doesn't mean I'm going to let my anatomical heart stop my proverbial heart from sharing my love with my husband on this special day.
So, I have come up with my own challenges for those of us who need to be a little creative in the romance department. Are you ready? Let's go!
1. Start with a romantic breakfast in bed. This can be as simple as preparing your usual breakfast for you and your mate, but with some extra special twists, such as candy and flowers. If you eat pancakes or toast, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter and serve heart-shaped breakfast goodies. Use champagne flutes for your orange juice, and add some strawberries and chocolates.
2. Plan for a romantic day together. Many couples work from home, and can plan to take most of the day off to spend together. Go out to lunch, for a picnic, or, if you're in a warm location, take a stroll along the shore. Go window shopping and buy each other a little trinket to remind you of your special dinner.
3. If you have to work, plan a romantic evening together. Go to a fancy restaurant and then see a romantic movie. Or, pick up some yummy takeout and rent some romantic Blu-rays, such as "Sleepless in Seattle," "You've Got Mail," "Ghost," and "Love Affair." Don't forget the tissues.
4. Set up some surprises throughout the day, such as simple love notes in your mate's lunch or briefcase, an Valentine eCard he or she will receive during work hours, or a delivery of flowers or chocolates in the middle of the day.
These are just some of the ideas you can use to surprise your mate on Valentine's day. The most important thing is to be together, and tell each other how much you mean to one another.
