Interview with Author Kirstin Pulioff

Today, I'd like to welcome author Kirstin Pulioff to the Realm. Kirstin's first book, The Escape of Princess Madeline, was released in November. Welcome Kirstin!

When did you start writing?

I have been writing my whole life.  It is my creative outlet… some people cook, some draw, and some sing (you don’t want to see me do any of those things)… I write.  It’s only been the last couple of years that I have done it with the intent of pursuing this as a career.

What is your favorite writing style?

I prefer the third person, one or two POV.  I can handle the omniscient POV in some instances, but for the most part, I prefer a bit of mystery in the secondary characters.

Where do you get your ideas?

I get ideas every day… from dreams, adventures, and interactions with people.  There are moments of inspiration throughout each day.  Some give me new ideas for scenes, and others for character development, or even a new story idea.

What’s the best thing about writing?

Writing gives me the opportunity to lose myself in another world.  It allows me to tell the stories that I see in the mind, and share the lesson or explore the relationship theme.

What’s the worst thing about writing?

I must still be living in a dream, there’s not much I don’t love about writing… the worst thing would have to be finding the time to get it all down.  It gets difficult to balance the writing, social media, marketing and editing.  There always seems to be a list of things to do and not enough time.

What do you do when you’re not writing?

When I’m not writing, I like to say I am living an adventure.  I have two small kids, so we are always busy exploring, playing and having new adventures.  In “my” time though, I love yoga, reading, and hiking.

Do you like reading?

I love reading.  There’s nothing better than finding a book that you can really lose yourself in.  I believe that reading and writing go hand in hand.

What are you reading right now?

Believe it or not, I have yet to read The Hunger Games…  That is the next on my list, and I can’t wait to start it.
