Sweet Saturday Sample

Today, I'd like to share another passage from The Chosen. Enjoy!

Several hours after leaving the castle to set off on their quest, The Chosen rode through the lands of Phantasma on their way to Prince Gastle’s kingdom.  They knew it would take them several days to get there, and that they would pass through most of Phantasma on their way.

As they rode over the high bridge that connected the Castle of the Elves with the small town of Loch Moss, they were stopped by one of its guards.  “Who wishes to cross into the Loch today?” she asked.

Striker was at the front of the group, and responded.  “I am Striker of the Elves, head of The Chosen.  We are passing through on our way to Prince Gastle’s kingdom on a mission from Queen Laurali of the Castle of the Elves.  Will you allow us to pass, please?”

“In order to cross through our land, you must first complete two tasks.  You must go into the Loch and destroy ten of its sea creatures.  These creatures have been causing havoc on our lands by destroying our crops.  Once you have killed the creatures, you will retrieve the vines that grow on their limbs, which we use for fertilizer.  Bring me twenty vines, and I will allow you to pass.”

“We will be happy to complete these tasks for you,” Striker replied.

Halli is a shy, young dwarf who has no idea of her true calling. When the evil Prince Gastle sets out to detroy the world of Phantasma, Queen Laurali of the Elves comes to tell Halli she's a Holy Paladin with the power to heal, and will join The Chosen, a group of brave warriors being sent to defeat the evil beast and save Phantasma. Will Halli be accepted by her group, and be able to keep them alive through their adventures? Will the evil Prince Gastle be defeated, freeing Phantasma from his destruction? Only time will tell.

  2. I'm wondering what it's going to take to destroy those creatures. Striker sure sounds confident that they'll be able to get the vines, but I'm guessing it will be quite a battle.
